The Gift of Music
/“Sing to the mountains because as you sing, they are being cast into the sea. As you sing, the portals of heaven are opening.” Sherry K. White
Those of you who really know me, know that music is the balm that feeds my soul. Music can lift me out of a funk, teach me about life through, not only the lyrics, but in just the sound and vibration of a melody, and it is my portal for meeting the Lord. You all know that the last two years have been difficult ones for me. You shouldn’t feel bad for me because things may have been difficult, but I have learned so much about who I am, how I do not walk this path alone, how much being loved has been a grace I never really quite understood, and how these things and my friends have helped me see the portals of heaven are not just opening but are open.
Roman’s 5: 1-2 in The Message translation says “By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us – set us right with him, make us fit for him – we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that’s not all; We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door for us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand – out in the wide-open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.” I love this passage. I pray with this passage often and it has been my comfort, my teacher, my song I sing.
How do you pray? Do you use Scripture, music, journaling, quiet, walking, or other means? Have you found some special portal to go to and pass through and just be present with the Lord? I encourage you to take the time to pray, take time to get to know at least some of the Scripture that speaks to your heart and your journey. I promise you that you will find your way to a number of portals that lead you to new and challenging way to meet God and in the process grow more into who you are. I know it will be worth the journey. Blessings as you travel the paved and smooth and the rocky roads ahead. -Chris L.
